PRINCE WILLIAM AND PRINCE GEORGE HONOR PRINCESS DIANA — WITH ONE SILENT GESTURE THAT LEFT THE PALACE VISIBLY SHAKEN There was no speech, no announcement, no attempt to draw attention

Before the royal family headed to Sandringham for the end-of-year holidays, Prince William recreated a special childhood memory with Princess Diana and his brother Prince Harry—this time with his eldest child, Prince George. In photos and videos shared by the Palace on Saturday, December 20, the Prince of Wales could be seen joining George, 12, as the father-son pair made a meaningful visit to a homeless shelter in London.

Prince William paid homage to his late mom as he continued a family holiday tradition with his son ahead of the royals’ Christmas lunch. On Tuesday, December 16, the duo stepped out at London’s The Passage charity, which William visited with Harry and Princess Di when he was just 11.

For George’s first visit, William and his son prepared Yorkshire pudding and put together care packages during a lunch for unhoused individuals, per photos shared by the organization and a video shared by Kate and William’s Instagram account. They also decorated a tree and met with recipients during the morning visit. Prince George was photographed wearing a dark red half-zip sweater with striped bands on the arms as he worked alongside his dad, who was clad in a navy blue sweater and collared shirt.

As a final tribute to William’s first visit to The Passage with Princess Diana, Prince George signed the same visitor page that the late royal and his dad originally signed back in 1993— bringing the memory full circle and showing how the young heir to the throne is following in his dad’s footsteps.

“It was important to the Prince of Wales to share with Prince George the work of The Passage and to spend time volunteering alongside the team,” a Palace spokesperson shared of the father-son visit, per People. “They both greatly enjoyed meeting staff, volunteers and service users as well as learning more about the charity’s work. The dedication shown not only by The Passage but by organizations across the homelessness sector, at Christmas and throughout the year, is invaluable.”
