Despite mounting criticism, supply problems at her lifestyle brand As Ever, and growing questions over financial stability, Meghan Markle is reportedly setting her sights on an even more ambitious goal: launching her own fashion brand.
According to Times of India, the Duchess of Sussex — after experimenting with podcasts about female entrepreneurs, a cooking series, and her lifestyle business selling jam, honey and baking ingredients — now wants to take on the global fashion industry.
Industry insiders, however, warn that this will be anything but straightforward — and many doubt whether Meghan can leave a lasting mark in such a fiercely competitive world.
A brand already under pressure

Radar Online reports that Meghan’s lifestyle venture As Ever has faced sustained criticism for being out of touch with mainstream consumer tastes.
The company’s future is said to be uncertain, with key products repeatedly selling out for nearly two months at a time — yet failing to be restocked, raising questions about supply chains, planning and scalability.
“She wants to be the next Anna Wintour”
Despite the challenges, sources claim Meghan remains undeterred.
“She knows she’s stepping into one of the toughest industries in the world,” a source told Times of India.
“But she isn’t letting fear stop her. In fact, she’s excited by the idea of shaking things up, confronting powerful gatekeepers and demanding customers.”
According to the source, Meghan has reportedly compared her ambitions to those of Anna Wintour or Victoria Beckham — figures who reshaped fashion and built global influence.
Yet the same insider offered a stark warning.
“The fashion world is ruthless. Those who hold power won’t easily accept an outsider who wants to redefine everything — especially someone widely disliked and seen as arrogant, like Meghan Markle.”
Criticism does not slow her down
Despite relentless scepticism, Meghan has consistently projected resilience. She has often likened her experiences to being “thrown to the wolves”, suggesting she views criticism as proof of resistance rather than rejection.
At the same time, reports have emerged suggesting her business empire is under financial strain, compounded by rumours — strongly denied — that King Charles may have removed Prince Harry from his will.
Netflix partnership comes to an end
Adding to the pressure, People magazine reports that the Sussexes’ high-profile $100 million Netflix deal is set to expire at the end of 2025 and will not be renewed.
Harry and Meghan signed the deal in September 2020, shortly after stepping back from royal duties and launching their production company, Archewell Productions.
Sources stress that the split is amicable and part of Netflix’s broader strategic restructuring, rather than the result of personal conflict.
The end of the partnership is not expected to affect the release of season two of With Love, Meghan, a documentary-style series heavily centred on the Duchess’s personal brand.
A mixed legacy at Netflix
During their collaboration with Netflix, Archewell released the six-part documentary Harry & Meghan in 2022, directed by Liz Garbus, chronicling the couple’s life in the United States.
Other projects included Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus and Polo.
At the time of signing the deal, Harry and Meghan told The New York Times that their goal was to create content that “informs and gives hope”, using Netflix’s global reach to inspire families around the world.
However, critical reception was divided. While Harry & Meghan attracted huge initial attention, subsequent projects struggled to capture sustained audiences.
Several critics argued that the content lacked depth, relied heavily on controversy, and felt more performative than genuinely inspirational.
Ambition versus reality
As Netflix steps away and business challenges mount, Meghan’s reported ambition to conquer fashion has raised eyebrows.
To supporters, it reflects confidence and determination.
To critics, it feels disconnected from reality — another grand vision launched before the previous one has stabilised.
With financial questions unresolved and public scepticism growing, one thing is clear:
Meghan Markle’s ambitions remain vast — even as the ground beneath them appears increasingly unstable.
Whether she becomes a fashion powerbroker — or another cautionary tale — remains to be seen.
